From Schipol Airport
A taxi ride from Schipol Airport directly to the Bed and Breakfast will cost you approximately 30-40 Euros. Make sure you get into a metered taxi.
A very easy, cheaper alternative is to take the train from Schiphol airport to Amsterdam Central Station (Appro.20 mins ride).
At Amsterdam Central Station, you can take Trams # 1,2, or 5 and get out at the "Spuistraat."
Once at the Spui, walk into the Spui Square, just a few steps walk in the direction the tram is proceeding. You will see a bar called "Hoppe" (established 340 years ago) and a small alleyway on it's right called the Heisteeg. Walk to the end of the alleyway and then cross the canals in front of you. You will walk over 3 bridges until you get onto the Runstraat, 5 minutes walk from the Spuistraat tram stop. Should you require assistance in finding us just ask someone for directions to the Runstraat or "Gerda's flower store" and the "Doffer" cafe, two well-known local attractions across the road from us.
A taxi ride from Central Station costs Euro 7.50 and is a worthwhile option if you have a lot of baggage.
A worthwhile investment during your stay is to purchase an OV Chipcard at the airport, train station or OVcard machines. Ask a service person for the nearest purchase location. You can load however much money you like on this card and it enables you to make use of trams, buses and the metro without having to buy a separate ticket every time which is expensive!
Amsterdam is a very friendly and relatively 'safe' city, however we do have our Pickpockets. Please be careful of where you place your belongings.
